FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Immaculata-La Salle High School is proud to announce that sophomore Daniel Ducassi has qualified for and will be competing in the National Forensic League’s 2008 Desert Lights Nationals Competition in Las Vegas this June. Ducassi will compete in the International Extemporaneous Speaking category.
International Extemp, as the event is known, is one of the most difficult events to master. In I.E., competitors are assigned a topic based on current international events and then have 30 minutes to write and memorize a 7 minute speech. Ducassi competed against twelve other students, and placed second in the District Qualifying Tournament, this past Saturday at Belen Jesuit High School. Competitors represented both public and private schools from Dade County.
In order to secure his position at Nationals, Ducassi gave speeches about diverse topics such as the effects of Benizir Bhutto’s assassination on Pakistan, the recent independence of Kosovo and on Venezuela.
Immaculata-La Salle looks forward to Ducassi’s success at Nationals.
